Giglancer: Designing a Platform That Connects Musicians to Local Gigs

Giglancer is a startup currently in development, built around a simple but powerful idea:
connecting musicians to local gigs through a dedicated, purpose-built platform.

The goal isn’t just to list opportunities — it’s to create a system that understands how musicians actually work, find gigs, and build sustainable local presence.

The Problem Giglancer Is Solving

For many musicians, finding gigs is still fragmented and informal:

  • Scattered Facebook posts

  • Word-of-mouth networks

  • Inconsistent communication with venues and organizers

This makes it difficult for musicians to discover opportunities — and just as difficult for venues to find the right talent.

Giglancer aims to close that gap by creating a single, focused platform where musicians and local gigs meet efficiently and transparently.

From Idea to Prototype

Giglancer is currently in its early development stage. The focus right now is on building a strong foundation before scaling.

That foundation includes:

  • Clear user flows for musicians and gig organizers

  • A product structure that prioritizes usability

  • A brand identity that speaks directly to the music community

This is where The Wingman came in.

The Wingman’s Role

The Wingman supported Giglancer in:

  • Designing the brand identity, ensuring it feels authentic, modern, and musician-focused

  • Building the prototype, translating the concept into a usable digital product

  • Shaping the platform’s structure, from onboarding to discovery and engagement

Rather than jumping straight into development, the work focused on clarity:
What problem are we solving?
Who is the platform for?
How should it feel to use?

The result is a prototype that doesn’t just look good — it communicates purpose.

Designing for Musicians, Not Just Users

One of the key principles behind Giglancer is respect for creative labor.

That means:

  • Simple, intuitive interfaces

  • Clear expectations between musicians and venues

  • A system designed to support local music ecosystems

Design decisions were guided by real use cases — not assumptions.

What’s Next

Giglancer is continuing development, refining features, testing flows, and preparing for future growth.

The Wingman remains involved as the platform evolves — supporting ongoing design, product thinking, and strategic decisions as Giglancer moves closer to launch.

This is not a finished product yet.
It’s a platform being built carefully — with intention.
